Dear Kathryn, Carol, Allen, Bonnie, Andi and Scott,
How shocking it was to learn of your loss. There is no way to understand the sorrow you must feel now. As everyone has said, Chris was one of a kind. His love for God, family, work, friends and those less fortunate touched everyone who knew him. He welcomed me to Elsberry as an 11-year-old and kept me attending the United Methodist Church. He let me drive his purple VW bug when I was 13, and I couldn't get the darn thing into reverse (sorry, Kathryn!) I never drove illegally again. When trouble in Ferguson began 11 days ago, and the Highway Patrol was brought in to help calm the city, the first person I thought of was Chris. He had a gift for soothing others, and I hope the people he taught carried his example with them. We will miss him terribly.
