I met Jim at my first job at Captain D's. He would come in every Sunday and order his tilapia meal with a diet coke. He was one of the few customers that had a genuine interest in my life and education. He would ask me what classes I was taking for the semester and would be back the next week with a quiz for me to take over the topics of those classes. He would also take the quiz to see who would score the highest. He was a wonderful friend and someone I'm glad I had the chance to meet.
I had the pleasure of working with Jim as a poll worker for the Cole County elections from 2005 until 2013. Jim was a wealth of knowledge in many areas of interest. Once a friend, always a friend. He lives on in happy memories but will be missed by many, some of whom will only remember the "friendly man at the polls."
