Obituary for Ross H. Boeger
Ross H. Boeger, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Heisinger Bluffs.
Ross was born March 29, 1928 in Hartsburg, Mo. the son of the late Walter and Caroline (Begemann) Boeger. He was married in June, 1951 in Hartsburg, Mo. to Imogene Smallwood and together they raised four children.
A lifelong resident of Missouri, Ross graduated from Jefferson City High School and was a 1952 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia where he was a three year letterman in baseball.
Ross served his country in Japan as a corporal paratrooper in the United States Army Eleventh Airborne Division. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of the Occupation Medal.
He was a dedicated high school teacher, coach, and administrator for thirty-one years. He started the first ever boy’s baseball team at Southern Boone High School in Ashland where he was inducted into the school’s baseball hall of fame. His mother and his wife Imogene hand-sewed the team’s first baseball uniforms
Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hermann, Mo. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and led Sunday school classes at the church.
He loved baseball, golf, fishing, and woodworking. Most importantly, he cherished his time with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include: his wife of sixty-six years, Imogene Boeger; his daughter, Connie Hughes (Ken) of Naples Florida; three sons, Steven Boeger (Susan) of Joplin, Mo., Daniel Boeger (Ginger) of Kansas City, Mo., and Michael Boeger (Karen) of Jefferson City, Mo; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A private family memorial service will be conducted at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hermann United Methodist Church, 314 West 16th Street, Hermann, Mo. 65041.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
