Obituary for James Schambach

James Schambach
Mr. James L. Schambach, age 97 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Capitol Region Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 1, 1920 in Buel, Mo. the son of Frederick William and Ellen Bell (Clement) Schambach. He was married on February 27, 1944 in Clarksville, Mo. to Rosa Frances Schambach, she preceded him in death on March 9, 1973. He was married on May 12, 1984 in Dallas, Tx. to Nora Olean Schambach, she preceded him in death on February 22, 1996.

James was a 1941 Graduate of Paynesville High School, Paynesville, Mo. In 1952 he enrolled at Hannibal LaGrange College, and then went on to finish his degree in History at OB University in Shawnee, Ok. in 1956. Of his family, James was the only one to graduate both high school and college.

James was a jack-of-all-trades in order to provide for his family, teaching at Head Start and working at privately owned farms, but he still always found time to dedicate to his ministry. He was ordained as a Baptist minister in July 1956 at New Hope Baptist Church in New Hope, Mo. He and his wife, Rosa began their ministry as missionaries to the Indians and also held services in the prisons of Oklahoma then to the churches of rural Missouri.

James was very creative, he composed many poems that he shared with his family and friends and was always ready to tell a story about his childhood and “the good old days”. He was an outdoorsman, whether it was coon hunting with his brothers when they were younger, fishing with family and friends or just sitting and taking in bird and other wildlife activity, he was in his element when he was in nature. James had a great sense of humor and liked to play card games, croquet and dominos. He was happy doing anything as long as he was with his family. His cheerful humming or singing while doing any chore will be fondly remembered by his family.

Survivors include: two sons, James Ronald Schambach and his wife Crystal of Holts Summit, Mo. and Kenneth Michael Schambach of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Anna Elaine Hard of Four Seasons, Mo.; seven grandchildren, James Christopher Jones and his wife Marla of Columbia, Mo., Kenneth Michael Schambach, II and his wife Laura of Springfield, Mo., James “Jimmy” Ronald Schambach and his wife Karen of Holts Summit, Mo., Rusty Knehans of Holts Summit, Mo., Melissa Baxter of Fulton, Mo., Dawn Silvey of Holts Summit, Mo. and Bradley Korte of Holts Summit, Mo.; nineteen great grandchildren, Ryan Harper, Jordan Hatfield, Abbey Jones, Carter Jones, Quinn Jones, Ken Schambach, III (wife Gabrielle), January Weber, Schaun Schambach, Zeth Schambach (wife Machenzie), Brandy Knehans, Cody Baxter, Joe Pelchat, Timothy Pray, Jessie Knehans, Colton Pray, Ashley Baxter, Duncan Bartley, Samuel Knehans and AArgon Silvey; and ten great great grandchildren.
