Obituary for Suzan Carole Bloomberg (Berry)

Suzan Carole  Bloomberg (Berry)
Mrs. Suzan Carole Bloomberg, age 62 years of Jefferson City, MO, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, MO.

She was born on March 20, 1955 in Dallas, TX the daughter of William H. Berry and Dolores (Lang) McDonnell. She was married on August 19, 1978 in Platte City, MO to Bob Bloomberg who survives.

Suzan was a 1973 graduate of Platte City High School. She then went on to earn a degree in education from Missouri Western University in 1977.

She was employed by the State of Missouri in the Department of Social Services as a computer programmer. A career civil servant, she also worked in the Platte County Sheriff’s Department, the Harrisonville Police Department, the Johnson County Circuit Clerks office, and in Child Support Enforcement.

Throughout her childhood, Suzan’s family lived in Mesquite, TX and Tulsa, OK before settling in Missouri. Moving as a child gave Suzan a love for travel, whether it be a trip to the beaches of Hawaii or St. Thomas, laying poolside in Las Vegas, or most recently exploring Ireland. She enjoyed new adventures and seeing the world with those she loved.

Suzan lived a life of service to others. She was fiercely dedicated to her family and her friends and was a person everyone knew they could count on. There was no better friend than Suzan. An organized go-getter, she wasted no time getting the ball rolling on projects or ideas. Suzan had a beautiful spirit and will be remembered as a bright, funny and committed wife, mother, and friend.

Survivors include: her husband, Bob Bloomberg of Jefferson City, MO; her daughter, Katy Bloomberg, and Katy’s husband Alex Jordan of Arlington, VA; her mother, Dolores McDonnell; one sister, Annette Clark of Liberty, MO; two brothers, Rodney “Roddy” Berry of Kansas City, MO, and Tim Berry and his wife April of Allen, TX; one granddaughter due to arrive June 2018; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Berry and her sister, Linda Barber.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Freeman Mortuary with Gara Loskill officiating. An inurnment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
