Donald E.  Graves
Mr. Donald Eugene Graves, age 86 years, of Tucson, Arizona, a former Jefferson City resident, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at North Hills Adult Care.

He was born on October 31, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Willie Ray and Ruby Irene Vochatzer Graves. He was married on May 11, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Dorotha Jean Hatchitt who preceded him in death on October 23, 2009.

Don grew up in the Kansas City area and was a 1949 graduate of Osawatomie High School. Following graduation Don served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952.

He owned and operated Datacom, Inc in Jefferson City until his retirement in 1994. Prior to his work at Datacom, Don was a super performer district manager for Smith-Corona Merchant with record sales of 300% and 500% above quota.

He was a member of Jefferson City Rotary, where he served on the Board of Directors for several years.

Don was a selfless, giving man and loved helping people in need. He opened his heart and his home to a son through adoption, and took care of his sister as well as his niece and nephew at critical times. Donald was passionate about making business deals and because he spent a lot of time in outside sales, he really treasured his time home with his family. He enjoyed being on the water boating or fishing, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks. He also loved to play tennis.

Survivors include: four sisters, Mildred Toncray and her husband Dernard of Paola, Kansas, Alice Emery of Paola, Kansas, Velma Boehm and her husband Frank of Osawatomie, Kansas, and Sheri Ziegler and her husband Jerry of Shawnee, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 54 years, Dorotha; his son, Robert Graves; and one sister, Nita Graves.

Visitation will be held at the Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bethany J. Imbler Albrecht officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Community Christian Church, 409 Ellis Blvd., Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
