Obituary for Betty L. Clark

Betty L.  Clark
Betty Lou Clark, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty was born September 7, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa the daughter of Leland A. and Billie E. (Hale) Rook. She was married on July 27, 1953 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Oliver L. Clark, Sr. who preceded her in death on August 3, 2003.

She had been employed in the dietary department at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo., Levering Hospital in Hannibal, Mo. and at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City. Later, she was employed at Scholastic, Inc. for several years prior to her retirement.

She was baptized into the Baptist faith and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Betty’s life revolved around her family by supporting them in any way, cooking for family dinners, and babysitting her grandchildren. If it had to do with her family, Betty was always there. She had a deep love of animals, especially her faithful companion and beloved dog, Shaggy.

Survivors include: two sons, Oliver “Dusty” Clark, Jr. (wife Tami) of Benton, Arkansas and John Clark of California, Mo.; four daughters, Rita Stephen (husband Charles) of Jefferson City, Mo., Debra Clark of California, Mo., Kathy Clark of Henley, Mo., and Tina Schepers (husband Mark) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Patty Hoppock (husband David) of Centralia, Mo.; one brother, Kenneth Rook (wife Gail) of Memphis, Tennessee; 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Oliver; and three brothers, Leland Rook, Carl Rook, and Robert Rook

A private family service will be conducted at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
