Obituary for Robert L. Rhodes

Robert L.  Rhodes
Robert L. Rhodes, age 51 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Capital Region Medical Center.

Robert was born May 31, 1966 in Jefferson City, Mo. a son of Walter and LaVerne (Bax) Rhodes.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Robert attended Jefferson City Public Schools.

He was a tree climber and landscaper with A-Able Tree Service, a family owned business for many years.

A free spirit, very easy going and laid back, Robert enjoyed going to the river and fishing, and making abstract chainsaw creations for family and friends. He was an avid chocolate lover. He loved to restore older model trucks and cars, and was a prior arm wrestling winner at the Cole County Fair.

Survivors include: his mother, LaVerne Rhodes; the mother of his children and love of his life, Rebecca Nowin-Griggs Poe; three sons, Joshua Rhodes and his fiancée, Sonja, Jason Bowers and Robert Justin Bowers, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Lisa Rhodes Gilley and Virginia Rhodes Nichols, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Priscella Gilley, Jimmy Gilley, Jessica Rhodes, Wesley Nichols, and Liam Nichols; and three great-nieces, Cheyenne, Chree and Caroline Gilley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Rhodes, his brothers, Ronald and Roger Rhodes, his sister, Peggy Rhodes Winter, and his nephew, Ryan Rhodes.

Visitation will be held in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery with the Reverend Cesar Anicama officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Robert Rhodes Memorial Fund c/o LaVerne Rhodes.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
