Obituary for David Alan Tellman

David A. Tellman, age 75 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at home ending his courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

David was born May 22, 1942 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of William A. “Tillie” and Opal M. Perkins Tellman. He was married on January 9, 1965 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Sarah “Sally” Jo Hartman.

A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, David attended Jefferson City High School and graduated from Lincoln Laboratory School in 1963.

He served in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1964 until retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1993. After retirement from the Missouri Army National Guard, he served in the United States Army Reserves until his retirement on May 22, 2002.

David was employed as a Letter Carrier with the United States Post Office from 1966 until his retirement on October 2, 1998.

He was a member of the National Rifle Assn., and a past member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693, and the United Sportsman Club.

David enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and woodworking. Most importantly, he cherished his time with his family.

He relaxed on his deck with a beer in his hand while barbequing for his family. He truly enjoyed life.

Survivors include: his wife of fifty-two years, Sally Tellman; two sons, Michael David Tellman of Dexter, Mo. and Christopher Allen Tellman and his wife Michelle of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister, Linda K. Lankford and her husband Bill of Creve Coeur, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Teresa Tellman of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Misty Leigh Lawson and her husband Logan, Kyle Austin Tellman, and Kolten Wade Tellman; and one great grandchild due in December; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William Tellman.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be from 3:00 until 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the B.P.O. of Elks, 901 Ellis Blvd., Jefferson City, Mo. with military honors to be conducted at 3:00 pm Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
