Obituary for Earl H. Hahn

Earl H.  Hahn
Mr. Earl H. Hahn, age 79 years, of Eugene, Mo., passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Earl was born September 16, 1937 in Eugene, Mo. the son of Herbert A. and Ruth A. (Payne) Hahn. He was married on June 6, 1959 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Connie K. Olson who preceded him in death on May 12, 1988. On September 9, 1989 in Eugene, Mo., he married Mary Della Leigh Goldsmith.

A lifelong resident of the Eugene area, Earl was a 1954 graduate of Cole County R-5 High School.

Earl served in the Missouri Army National Guard for 38 years prior to his discharge in 2002.

He was extremely proud to own and operate a dairy farm for 45 years on his family farm in Eugene, which started with his great-grandfather. He was also employed with the Cole County R-5 School District for over 40 years as a school bus driver, later in school bus maintenance, and finally as school bus superintendent. Earl enjoyed transporting vehicles for Lloyd Belt for seven years after his work with Cole County R-5.

He was a faithful member and deacon at Hickory Hill Baptist Church and served on the board of directors with the Hickory Hill Church Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard Association, Gideons International, and the Mid-America Dairy Association.

Earl enjoyed farming, traveling, woodworking, and camping during trips to National Parks in Arizona and Texas with family. He loved traveling to Texas during the winter months to camp in his R.V. with his wife and volunteer doing mission work with a group called “Campers on Mission”. He had a caring heart and always wanted to help others.

Survivors include: his wife of twenty-seven years, Mary Hahn; three children, Linda Reid (husband Jay) of Kansas City, Mo., Michael Hahn (wife Carla) of Eugene, Mo., and Dayna Limbach (husband Larry) of Henley, Mo.; four step-children, Lynette DeClerck (husband Tom) of Pana, Illinois, Brett Goldsmith (wife Kim) of Nokomis, Illinois, Curt Goldsmith (wife Connie) of Shobonier, Illinois, and Shanda Goldsmith of St. Elmo, Illinois; five sisters, Ruby Leuthen (husband Howard) of Kansas City, Mo., Bertha Busch (husband Curtis) of Eugene, Mo., Janie Morrow (husband Ronald) of Eugene, Mo., Bernice Kallenbach (husband Larry) of Eugene, Mo., and Marie Cox (husband William) of Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Ashley Highfill, Samantha Reid, Hunter Reid, Ryan Hahn, Matthew Hahn, Cody Hahn, Amanda Hahn, Koby Limbach, and Jarin Limbach; nine step- grandchildren, Erica Hudelson, Jacob DeClerck, Dylan Goldsmith, Dalton Goldsmith, Delaney Goldsmith, Holly Goldsmith, Heidi Goldsmith, Case Goldsmith, and Morgan Miller; three great- grandchildren, Piper and Phoenix Highfill, and Maverick Reid; and four step-great-grandchildren, Megan and Samantha Hudelson, Sadie Goldsmith, and Barrett Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Connie.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, June 30, 2017.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Hogard officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at the Hickory Hill Cemetery.
