Obituary for Carrie Mae Berry

Carrie Mae  Berry
Carrie Mae Baker Berry, 83, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at her son’s home in New Bloomfield.

She was born on December 10, 1933, in Cedar City, Mo., the daughter of the late Elmer Baker and Lottie Mae (Steinmetz) Baker. She was married on December 18, 1954 in New Bloomfield, Mo. to Howard Monroe Berry, who preceded her in death on December 16, 2004.

Carrie graduated from New Bloomfield High School in 1953.

She retired from the Fulton State Hospital as a psychiatric aide after 17 years. Before she worked at the hospital, Carrie loved being a school bus driver for New Bloomfield Schools and farmed for many years.

Carrie was a member of the New Bloomfield Alumni Association, Hopewell Baptist Church and Leopoldville Memorial Association.

She cherished time outdoors with family, especially fishing, swimming and camping with them. Recently, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been the center of her life. Carrie will be remembered for her loving spirit, giving heart and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her daughter, Sharon K. Jarvis; her son, Wayne Alan Berry (significant other, Dixie Trester); five grandchildren, Michael Wayne Jarvis (Lisa Linker), Carrie Ann Johnson (husband Martin), Keith Alan Berry (wife Leah), Hannah Nichole Jarvis and Daniel Lee Berry (wife Katherine); two step-grandsons, Josh Rieken and Jake Rieken; six great-grandchildren, Brittney Beverly, Dallas Jarvis, Allyson Maddox, Jaxon Jarvis, Chase Johnson and Zane Jarvis; one step-great-granddaughter, Rachel Johnson; two brothers, her twin Harry Ray Baker (wife Martha Sue Crump Baker), and Roger Gene Baker (wife Janice Thomas Baker).

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Howard Monroe Berry and Ronald Williams; three brothers, Elmer August Baker, Charles William Baker, and Karl Stephen Baker along with his wife Betty Jean Hickman Baker.

A private memorial service will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hopewell Baptist Church, 1768 State Rd MM, New Bloomfield, MO 65063.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
