Obituary for Jerold Tamm

Jerold Norvin Tamm, age 81, of Jefferson City, MO passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital here in Jefferson City.

Jerry to his friends; was born on July 5, 1935 the son of N.F. and Mattie (Ball) Tamm of Jefferson City.

He wed his high school sweetheart Judy Dallmeyer on June 15, 1957.

Jerry was a world traveler who lived in what many will call the Golden age of the USA. He was a graduate of Missouri University who initially followed his education into the field of Forestry. He entered the U.S. Air Force as an officer in 1957 and became a jet fighter pilot with the rank of Captain flying F-86, F-100, F-104 and F-105 fighter jets in Vietnam. This service in our military led him to join TWA as a commercial airline pilot for the balance of his regular career. Upon retiring from TWA at 56 years old; Jerry and his wife Judy became professional antique dealers here in central Missouri making many friends and good acquaintances.

Both Jerry and his father N.F. were scoutmasters here in Jefferson City and many Boy Scouts fondly remember their mentoring from these two fine gentlemen.

For Jerry’s closest friends; they will miss his perfectly clear views on gender, politics, military and humor and his appreciation of fine Canadian Whisky and Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

Jerry is survived by: his wife of 60 years; Judy Tamm; two sons, Don Tamm and David Tamm; one daughter, Cheryl Smith; and two grandchildren, Lucas Lee and Ryan Tamm.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family asks that memorial donations can be made either to the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA. or the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Basinger/Sone Post 1003 in Jefferson City, MO. The purpose of the Collings Foundation is to organize and support “living history” events and the presentation of historical artifacts and content that enable Americans to learn more about their heritage through direct participation.
