Mr. Howard E. Toalson, age 86 years, of Mexico, Mo., died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Mo.
Howard was born September 1, 1930 in Mexico, Mo. the son of Ralph M. and Martha Carleton Larsen.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Howard graduated from Mexico High School, Mexico, Mo and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Howard was employed with the Missouri Highway Dept. in the Bridge Design Dept. for thirty-eight years prior to his retirement on September 1, 1992.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mexico, Mo. He enjoyed and owned several antique cars, being outdoors, gardening, fishing, and hunting. Howard was an aircraft and flying enthusiast and collected art and antiques.
Survivors include: two nephews and one niece, Robert Toalson and his wife Leigh Ann of Eldon, Mo., Michael Toalson and his wife Mary Lynn of Richmond, Virginia, and Carol Ann Toalson of Jefferson City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph M. Toalson, Jr. and Robert Toalson, and one sister, Martha Ann Toalson.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary in Jefferson City, Mo. from 5:00 until 6:00 pm Friday, June 9, 2017 and at the First Christian Church in Mexico, Mo. from 10:00 until 11:00 am Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Ron Routledge officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be conducted at the Elmwood Cemetery in Mexico, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.
