Robert N. "Bob" Hohenstreet
Mr. Robert N. Hohenstreet, age 84 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away January 22, 2017 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

Bob was born on December 15, 1932 in Jefferson City, Mo. a son of Arthur and Ruth (Speedy) Hohenstreet. He was married in 1960 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Gloria Reinhardt. He later married Janice Wooderson Blankenship on August 14, 1998 in Jefferson City, Mo.

Bob attended St. Peters Catholic School and moved to St. Louis where he graduated from Christian Brothers High School.

He served in the United States Army from November 15, 1955 until he was honorably discharged on November 15, 1958. It was in the military that he learned how to operate heavy equipment and he would use that skill the rest of his life.

Bob was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Beck Quarries (later became Capital Quarries) for over 20 years until his retirement in 2002. Before his work at the quarry, he was the manager at the Public Water Supply District #2.

He helped establish the Cole County Volunteer Fire Department and was a past member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Bob enjoyed building model trains, photography, the occasional trip to the casino, and boating at the Lake of the Ozarks when his children were younger. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his family, especially if that meant barbequing or eating out with them.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice Hohenstreet of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Deborah Twehus (husband Alfred) of Centertown, Mo.; three step-children, Jerald Blankenship (wife Anita) of Jefferson City, Mo., Jeanne Little (husband Jim) of Columbia, Mo. and Jeffrey Blankenship of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Nick Hohenstreet (wife Michelle) of Drexel, Mo. and Bill Hohenstreet of Grandview, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Nicolas Kaiser of Dallas, Texas and Elizabeth Twehus of Centertown, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne Hohenstreet in 1993; two brothers, George and Jim Hohenstreet; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Al Lueckenhoff.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with military honors following. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens at a later time.
