Mr. Daniel Bruce “Boomer” Steelman, age 65 years, of Jefferson City, MO passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 surrounded by his family at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Dan was born on May 22, 1951 in Jefferson City, MO a son of Elgin Floyd and Mary Katherine Steelman. He was married on June 17, 2000 in Vinton, LA to Phyllis Frederick.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Dan graduated from Jefferson City High School on May 28, 1969.
Dan was employed with the automotive industry and loved helping people throughout his career. He operated his own car lot “Patriot Motors” for several years before going to work at Mike Kehoe Ford as a car salesman for over ten years. He retired from being a driver for the handiwheel bus through Jeff Tran and cherished the relationships he had with many of the riders.
Dan loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching old western movies, especially any movies with John Wayne. He was an avid reader and had an amazing sense of humor that he shared with anyone he met.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Phyllis Steelman of Jefferson City, MO; his daughter, Stacey Michelle Steelman of New Orleans, LA; his son, Carl Dry (wife Christy) of Benton City, MO; his mother, Mary Henley-Linhardt of Jefferson City, MO; two grandchildren, Spencer Dry and Morgan Dry of Benton City, MO; his brother, Gary Douglas Steelman (wife Debbie) of Holts Summit, MO; his sister, Becky Lueckenotte of Tipton, MO; his step-mother, Arlene Steelman of Columbia, MO; an uncle, Paul Koelling (wife Judy); an aunt, Annie Woods; his beloved dog, Dolly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Steelman; his paternal grandparents, Joshua and Anna Steelman; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Virginia Koelling; his step-brother, Charles Duenow; a nephew, Kyle Lueckenotte; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 with a Celebration of Dan’s Life following at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Freeman Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association.
