Mrs. Patsy Anna Russell, age 81 years, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Adams Street Place surrounded by her family.
She was born on May 1, 1935 in Centralia, Mo. a daughter of Raymond J. and Dorothy (Colvin) Mayes. She was married on July 29, 1959 in Ottawa, Okla. to Donald T. Russell, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 30, 2007.
A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Patsy was a 1953 graduate of Jefferson City High School.
She was employed as a waitress and hostess with various restaurants in Jefferson City for over 30 years. Patsy enjoyed her job because she didn’t know a stranger, and she loved catching up with her customers and meeting new people. Some of her favorite times were working at Oscar’s Steakhouse, Holiday Inn, and Ramada Inn.
Patsy was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit and was active with their bible study.
Patsy enjoyed playing Bingo with friends, and always found the best bargains while watching QVC. She also loved to quilt when she was younger. Most of all she enjoyed going out to eat with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: two children, Donald T. Russell, Jr. (wife Sharry) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Gayla Coots (husband Charley) of Hartsburg, Mo.; five step-children, Randy Russell (wife Sandra) of Swisher, Iowa, Doyle Russell (wife Geri) of Holts Summit, Mo., Donna Boessen (husband Robert) of Holts Summit, Mo., Lana Viessman (husband Roy) of Jefferson City, Mo., and Kathie Withers (Jay Walker) of Holts Summit, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Virgil Hunke; her husband, Donald; and her sister, Brenda Taggart.
A private memorial service will be held in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Frank Whitney officiating. Graveside services and inurnment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Union Hill Baptist Church.
