Obituary for Betty Hayden

Betty Hayden
Mrs. Betty Jo Hayden, age 89 years, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born on September 27, 1927 in Boone County, Mo. a daughter of Clarence “Shorty” and Bertha (Nichols) Case. She was married on May 31, 1952 in Cedar City, Mo. to Bill Hayden who preceded her in death on July 1, 1974.

Betty was a hard worker and enjoyed staying busy her entire life. She began her professional career as a factory worker at Tweedie Shoe Factory. She later worked at McGraw Edison and retired from Westinghouse in 1989 because she needed to be a caregiver to her father.

Betty was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Holts Summit and was proud to be baptized at the age of 13 when the church was located in Cedar City, Mo.

She enjoyed being outdoors with friends at the Noren Access of the Missouri River and taking long walks with family to be active. Betty loved crocheting, playing cards, fishing when her health allowed and was extremely close to her sisters, who the family referred to as the “Golden Girls”. Betty’s favorite moments were cooking for family gatherings and they will always remember her “special” pecan pies.

Survivors include: a son, Stanley Hayden and his wife Connie of Jefferson City, Mo.; a daughter, Karen Jo White and her husband Dale of Holts Summit, Mo.; one brother, Clifford Case and his wife Evelyn of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister, Jean Nichols and her husband Henry of Holts Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kelley Hayden, Eric White, and Billy Hayden; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Harold “Coffee” Case, James Robert Case and Nick Case; and three sisters, Dorothy Coots, Lillis Eickoff and Bonnie Hickman.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dusty Klein. Graveside services and interment will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hartsburg, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 119 Thompson Street, Holts Summit, Mo. 65043.
