Obituary for Marilyn Ann Wilson

Marilyn Ann Wilson
Mrs. Marilyn Ann Wilson, age 78 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on October 11, 1938 in Altamont, Mo. the daughter of Harold Leland and Esther Rebecca (Oakes) Morrison. She was married on November 25, 1955 in Kidder, Mo. to Jackie Dean “Jack” Wilson, who preceded her in death on September 16, 2015.

She was a 1956 graduate of Winston High School near Plattsburg, Mo.

A homemaker for the majority of her life, Marilyn loved supporting and caring for her family because they were the center of her life. She always took an active role in her sons' lives; which included being a den mother, member of the Plattsburg Football Booster Club, keeping score at all baseball games, and never missing a football game. She was also very active within the Plattsburg community with her husband, who served several terms as the mayor.

Marilyn was employed for a few years at the Missouri Power and Light and enjoyed working in the cafeteria at the Plattsburg High School while her sons attended school. She later worked as a waitress at “Bert and Ernie’s Restaurant” in Plattsburg and loved catching up with her friends and family during that time.

She and Jack moved to Holts Summit in 1994 to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. They cherished time being closer to them in their retirement.

Marilyn collected watering cans and used them for decoration around the house. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially planting flowers in her yard.

Survivors include: three sons, Paul “Spark” Wilson (wife Tami) of Jefferson City, Mo., Brian Scott Wilson (wife Laura) of Columbia, Mo., and Michael Shannon Wilson of Holts Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Wilson, Jessica Belmar (husband Eric), and Whitney Wilson; one great-granddaughter, Natalie June Belmar; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; two brothers, Wayne Morrison and Dick Morrison; and an infant brother, Ronnie Morrison.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Perkins Park Pavilion in Plattsburg, Mo. with a visitation immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
