Obituary for James T. Deel

James T.  Deel
Mr. James T. Deel, age 94 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

He was born on March 29, 1922 in Haysi, Va. a son of the late James and Ida (Raines) Deel. He was married on January 29, 1949 in Liberty, Mo. to Marjorie Blaser.

James served in the United States Navy during World War II.

After his service in the Navy, Jim returned to school to receive his GED, and continued on to receive training in auto mechanics and electronics.

He was employed as a set up man with Herman-Nelson (American Air Filter) in Moline, Il. for over 30 years.

Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, reading, and the building and construction of their home. After retirement, he and Margie spent their winters in Florida and made a hobby of visiting all the interesting places and restaurants.

Survivors include: son, Ted Deel of Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Deborah (James) Koester, of Milan, Il., and Judith Deel of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; and seven brothers, Johnny, Floyd, Cledith, Harold, Charlie, Jerry and William Deel.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 am Friday, September 23, 2016 at Freeman Mortuary.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 am Friday in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Jefferson City National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
