Obituary for James Edward Lucius

James Edward  Lucius
Mr. James E. “Buddy” Lucius, age 87 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.

Buddy was born January 2, 1929 in Gosnell, Arkansas the son of Charles L. and Mary Katherine Hardin Lucius. He was married on July 2, 1949 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Mary Jane McDonald who preceded him in death on October 6, 2005. On April 27, 1967, he married Brenda J. Selph in Paragould, Arkansas and she preceded him in death in April, 2011.

A resident of the Holts Summit area for the past two and a half years, Buddy was employed as the Sales Manager with Tim Bowles Motors in Osceola, Arkansas for thirty years. He then was employed as an Apartment Manager in Hot Springs, Arkansas for twenty years and then worked for Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas for ten years.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Osceola, Arkansas and the Moose Lodge in Hot Spring, Arkansas

Buddy enjoyed mowing and gardening. His favorite thing to do was hang out with his friends and “chew the fat”. He also enjoyed watching Bonanza, the Rifleman, Mayberry RFD, and other old television programs.

Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Dolman and her husband Ron of Lake Mykee, Mo.; two sons, James Bruce “Jim” Lucius and his wife Misti of San Antonio, Texas and Jeffery Scott “Jeff” Selph and his wife April of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Raye Ledbetter of Gosnell, Arkansas, Jewell Sanders and her husband Joe of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and Jeanie French of Blytheville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Mandy Jean Taylor and her husband Rye of Independence, Mo., Jeffery Scott Selph, Jr. and fiancé Britney Groover, of Dallas, Texas, and Christopher Jordan Selph fiancé Krysta Koon of Dallas, Texas; eight great grandchildren, Teak and Blaze Taylor, Jaxon and Huxley Selph, Hayden and Mason Edwards, Devin Jennings, and Darcie Dolman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, one brother, William F. “Sonny” Lucius, one sister, Shirley Lane, and one granddaughter, Conleigh Marie Lucius on July 20, 2002.

Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at Crestview Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
