Obituary for Wanda M. Jones

Wanda M.  Jones
Mrs. Wanda “Candy” Jones, age 76 years, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at Capital Region Medical Center.

Wanda was born on May 10, 1940 in Marion, Illinois the daughter of John and Irene (Swan) Taylor. She was married on March 14, 1959 in Marion, Illinois to James “Dick” Jones, who preceded her in death on August 8, 2002.

A resident of the central Missouri area for the majority of her life, Candy was employed with the Missouri Department of Revenue in their Motor Vehicle Department for over 20 years until her retirement.

She attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Holts Summit and attended First Christian Church in Troy, Mo. while living with her son and daughter-in-law prior to returning to the Jefferson City area.

Wanda enjoyed sewing and quilting in her free time. She was proud to be a foster parent for several years and always wanted to help others. Most importantly, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include: five children, Norarene “Nonie” Hrabik (husband John) of Yutan, Nebraska, Tammy Strickland (husband Art) of Hams Prairie, Mo., James “Jim” Jones (wife Barb) of Troy, Mo., Wanda “Wendy” Eastwood of Jefferson City, Mo. and Robert “Bobby” Jones of New Bloomfield, Mo.; one sister, Juanita Mead (husband Bill) of Alabama; three brothers, Richard Stover, Raymond Stover, and Roy Stover, all of the state of Illinois; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Dick; and one brother, Ralph Stover.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Thursday, August 18, 2016.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with Pastor Joseph Britain officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (formerly Bull Cemetery) in Holts Summit, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Tourette Syndrome Association and the American Heart Association.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
