Obituary for Chester Brown Jr.

Chester  Brown Jr.
Mr. Chester P. Brown, Jr., age 86 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Chester was born May 1, 1930 in Bonne Terre, Mo. the son of Chester P., Sr. and Genevieve Evans Brown. He was married on February 28, 1953 in Bonne Terre, Mo. to Barbara A. Buscher.

A resident of the Jefferson City area for the past sixty years, Chester graduated from Boone Terre High School and Mineral Area Junior College in Farmington. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and Lincoln University.

Chester served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict.

He was employed as an Accountant with General Motors Acceptance Corporation for thirty years prior to his retirement in 1983.

Chester was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Memorial Community Hospital and Capital Region Medical Center. He was President of the Missouri Square Dancers and Round Dancers in 1975. He volunteered to assist the A.A.R.P. in income tax preparation during tax season. Chester was an avid collector of Coca-Cola Glasses.

Survivors include: one son, Chester P. Brown, III of Jefferson City, Mo.; one grandson, Chad Brown of Jefferson City, Mo.; and one sister, Lillian Thomure and her husband Augusta of Bonne Terre, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jeannie Martin Dudenhoeffer officiating. Graveside services and entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery.
