What is Pre-arrangement?

The death experience is one of the most difficult and stressful times that a family has to face. Not only is the family dealing with the loss of a dear family member, but they are also thrust into the arranging of the funeral service and burial or cremation service. Many times the family members are very emotional, and not able to make decisions as clearly as they could under normal life circumstances.

 There is no way that Freeman Mortuary, or anyone, can take away the pain that comes with the death of a family member. But we can help to lessen it's effects on the family through a process called pre-arrangement.

Funeral pre-arrangement is a very popular service we provide. Many families tell us how thankful they are when they or their parents have made funeral or cremation arrangements well before the time of death. Once you prearrange your funeral or cremation, remaining family members will not be faced with difficult decisions when they are least able to deal with them.

Reasons Prearrangement is Beneficial to Your Family

• You'll be able to make better decisions. Prearranging is not an emotional process - it's a business decision. Since you're not in a hurry, you can carefully consider all of your choices, and select the options that are best for you and your family

• You'll be able to freeze costs and budget your purchase. When you prearrange, you freeze costs against future price increases. Pre-need arrangements can be made on an installment basis, tailored to fit your budget requirements. If you wait until death occurs, the entire amount is due immediately, and could place a financial hardship on your family.

• You'll save your family from having to make all the decisions when a death occurs. When you have made pre-arrangements, there is much less stress on the family. The plans you have made are carried out, and the family is relieved from having to make all the decisions at a time when they are emotionally upset.

Types of Pre-arrangements

• The first step in the pre-arranging process happens when families contact our friendly staff to answer any questions and become more knowledgeable about the funeral process and their options. Our staff talks about the general parameters of how services are structured and priced knowing and that is as far as many families would like to go with pre-arranging. • Other families want to take it a step further and become more specific with their wishes and services. They select the exact services they feel appropriate, even down to the casket. With this type of pre-arrangement, our funeral home would be able to show the family exact charges associated with their specific service.
• The last step in the pre-arranging process is when families prepay for their specific services. When families prepay, we guarantee the price of the services regardless of any price increase. This step makes it easier on any surviving family because when something would happen to their loved one, they are not forced to make any tough emotional decisions and assume no financial responsibility.

There is a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and a competent person to answer the telephone, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You only need to provide us with the following information:

• Name of deceased
• Location of deceased
• Name, phone number, and relationship of the person who will be in charge of making the arrangements

International Travel or Out-of-State Transit

If a family member dies while traveling outside the United States, the U.S. Embassy will come to your assistance. You should call us immediately when a death occurs abroad. We are well-versed in the procedures for returning the deceased to the United States.
